Dear Reader,
Beauty is something I think about a lot as an artist and educator. The environment surrounding us reflects the complexity of our lives and is an invitation to reflect on what we know and who we are.
As a Montessori educator, I know that the child absorbs our environments and that our attention to the details is subtle messages. A pile of clutter speaks its language of value, decisions delayed, and conflicts within. Our environment is a reflection of the sacred.
My paintings are not only a way to understand the world but a way for me to show the world that lives within me.
Kabbalistic ideas encompass the world I have seen and felt since childhood. The broad and sweeping acknowledgment of incredible beauty and potential in absolutely everything-
The Divine energy in all forms is pure potential and beauty. An idea so complex and simple at the same time that we have spent centuries trying to find the words and images that can encase the idea, but it is not possible.
Only facets can be seen, understood, and revealed. The shimmering we catch at pivotal moments shapes our soul.
Beauty is a possibility. It is one deep and meaningful way we are reminded of the unknowable, the infinite, and the simple.
God promised Abraham that his descendants would be as 'numerous as the stars in the sky.'
The enormity of this idea can be seen as a night. Interestingly, we can see the deep expanse and an endless number of stars with the naked eye, yet when we see a high-powered telescope image, the depth is greater and more profound. We see millions more stars in the same place. There were always there, but we could not see them. The clarity of the telescope reminds us that there is so much more to be discovered and revealed. It is still there waiting. The truth never changes, only our understanding.
I can almost hear the stars telling a story, gently reminding us to remember we are all creations of beauty and that there is room for all the expressions of that beauty to thrive and grow.
Beauty is an invitation to show our unique qualities and a reminder that our beauty is as numerous as the stars.
In what ways is beauty part of your life? Are there places in your life that need a little stardust?
Happy Star-gazing, Gina
