My Process:
Painting is a form of meditation or prayer; images of my subject matter come to me in the quiet spaces of reflection and dreams. When I begin a painting, I open myself up to the possibilities of what will form. I am often surprised by the revelation of images and ideas.
My Studio:
I surround myself with beauty and special objects that remind me of my places and the people I love. Pictures, stones, shells, and books, each holding a silent story waiting to be told. I record the images and feelings surrounding them in my journal to paint when they are ready. Each collection of paintings has a theme that emerges and connects to ideas that are important to me.
Media:
I primarily use a combination of watercolor and ink in my works; the movement and color reflection invite my imagination to create. Once the theme or image is painted, I refine my vision through the detailed pattern work in ink; each pattern represents an idea, prayer, or conversation with the universe. I hope that each person that views my work will find a personal story, vision, or dream.
Welcome to my studio!
